More Than a Birthday Party

For many of these youth, this is the first time someone has taken the time to learn what they actually like, celebrate their interests, and create something specifically for them.

As an agency (Sunrise Children’s Services – Somerset) that works closely with youth in foster care, we witness firsthand how often children and teens carry the weight of feeling forgotten. Many of the youth we serve have experienced constant transitions, uncertainty, and disappointment. Birthdays — something many people take for granted — can often become just another day.

That is why our partnership with Dreams Delivered Daily means so much to the youth we serve.

When we submit a child for a birthday celebration through 3D, we know they are going to receive more than a cake and a gift. They are going to receive a moment that tells them they matter.

Over and over again, we hear reactions that remind us just how important these celebrations truly are.

“This is all for me?”

“This cake is so beautiful!”

“I’ve never had a party before.”

Those words are both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. For many of these youth, this is the first time someone has taken the time to learn what they actually like, celebrate their interests, and create something specifically for them.

What stands out most is that these celebrations are personal. The gifts are not random donations handed out to a group. The cakes are not generic. Every detail reflects the child — their favorite colors, sports teams, hobbies, or things they have always wanted. Whether it is a specific toy, a pair of shoes, a favorite character, or a themed cake, the youth immediately recognize that someone cared enough to make it about them.

And they notice.

We consistently hear about the huge smiles on their faces, regardless of their age. Teenagers who normally try to hide emotion light up when they realize people went out of their way to celebrate them. Younger children beam with excitement seeing their names written on a cake. Some youth are simply shocked that complete strangers would care enough to make their birthday special.

Many of them are surprised that people care enough to celebrate them at all.

That is the impact Dreams Delivered Daily is making.

In a system where youth often feel overlooked, these moments remind them they are seen. They are valued. They are worth celebrating.

From our perspective as an agency, we cannot express enough gratitude for what Dreams Delivered Daily does for these children. The joy these celebrations bring reaches far beyond a single day. The youth remember these moments. They remember the people who showed up for them.

And honestly, so do we.

To everyone who donates, volunteers, bakes cakes, shops for gifts, sponsors birthdays, or supports Dreams Delivered Daily in any way: thank you. You are helping create moments that many of these children have never experienced before.

You are reminding them that they matter.
